Naqsh-e Jahan square

The main tourist spot of Isfahan is Naqsh-e Jahan Square or Imam Meidan. Also, It is a world heritage UNESCO site. To clarify, the meaning of this square is “the Image of World” in Persian. Therefore, It’s impossible to travel to Iran, especially Isfahan, and not visit this square. There are four sites around it, and together make up a considerable complex to explore.

History of Square

Shah Abbas Safavi built Imam Square/ Meidan in 1598 and 1629. further, then he decided to move his capital from Qazvin city to Isfahan. So, he thought Isfahan was the more secure and convenient place. Imam Square was designed to create a place to hold national events. The architect of this project was Shaykh Bahai. Consequently, as it was the main center for important political strategy, the square is surrounded by several buildings.

In other words, Imam Mosque, Sheykh Lotf Allah Mosque, Aali Qapoo palace, and Qeysarieh Bazaar are built around it. Imam Mosque represents the power of the clergy. The bazaar represents the power of merchants, and the Ali Qapoo palace represents the power of the Shah.

Naqsh-e Jahan Square: What to Do there?

There are four amazing structures around it to visit. However, the square itself is an attraction. Furthermore, Imam Meidan is filled with fountains and green lawns, souvenir shops, and ice cream places. interestingly, you can take horse riding to visit the square or walk around it and enjoy it. in addition, here it is a place to take amazing photos too.

Above all, when you enjoy the square, it is time to visit the sites around it. We suggest you start from Sheykh Lotf Allah Mosque and its dazzling beauty of tiles. It was a private and luxurious place of worship for Shah Abbas I and the women of his court.

The next one is Imam Mosque. However, Imam Mosque is the best example of a thousand-year tradition in building mosques. However, the mosque comprises the main dome, two prayer halls, four porches, and four minarets.
